PEN/Faulkner Writers in Schools: Bringing Great Literature to Classrooms
PEN/Faulkner Writers in Schools is a literary arts outreach program for DC public high school students. Since 1989, PEN/Faulkner has brought nationally-known writers into classrooms for small group sessions. They provide free copies of an author’s book to students, along with resources to aid teachers in preparing for the author’s visit. In addition, they are involved with inspiring interest in modern literature in settings such as teen parent programs and juvenile justice centers.
