Welcome to the Stone Soup Films Partnership Application

The deadline to apply for our Fall 2017 cohort is June 30th, 2017

After a careful review of our existing procedures and with feedback from our partners in both the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, we have worked to improve the entire application process and better measure our impact.
So, what has changed?
Our new application has been revised to capture impact metrics upfront. Organizations will be asked to identify measurable goals they would like to achieve with the film and indicate how they will be measured. Partners will report back on their progress toward these goals via phone survey after six months and submit a brief report one year after the film is delivered.
We will now accept two cohorts of up to 7 nonprofit partners each per year. Cohorts will be accepted in the Spring and Fall of each year. This will drive total film production to 14 partnerships, up to 10 Docs-In-A-Day, and up to 3 DC Hero films for a possible total of 27 mission-driven films per year.
 
We’ve clarified our eligibility requirements. Organizations must:

  1. Be an IRS-registered, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization with a non-private foundation status of 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2);
  2. Primarily serve the residents of Washington, D.C. with offices and programming located within the District;
  3. Have no existing, relevant, professionally-produced, promotional video;
  4. Have clear, measurable goals for the film and demonstrated communications/storytelling needs;
  5. Have programming in D.C. that can be filmed with proper permissions.

For the Spring cohort, filming will typically occur between February and June. For the Fall cohort, filming typically occurs between August-January. 

The application will now be available through our new online portal. Our new software requires applicants to create a log-in that can be used to save, edit and submit data online through our portal. Applications can be submitted at any time but will only be considered and reviewed during two periods per year. Reports will be submitted through this portal as well.
 

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

2017 Spring Cohort Application Deadline: January 13, 2017
Our new application will re-open on November 16, 2016. The deadline to submit applications for the Spring cohort is January 13. Decision notifications will be sent to Spring cohort applicants by March 15. Filming for the Spring cohort may occur between February and June 2017.
 
2017 Fall Cohort Application Deadline: June 30, 2017 
Applications will be considered for the Fall cohort beginning May 1. The deadline to submit applications for the Fall cohort is June 30. Decision notifications will be sent to Fall cohort applicants by August 31. Filming for the Fall cohort may occur between August 2017 and January 2018.
